Conflict
Resolution and Management
- Implications for
National Development
Over the years, Nigeria has witnessed
a spate of intractable internal
conflicts, ranging from the
conflicts in the Niger Delta region,
religious conflicts and ethnic
conflicts. It is in this realm that
Nigerians in the International
community seek to understand the
conventional forces that give rise
to conflict and proven methods used
to resolve and manage conflicts.
The Alliance of Nigerian
Organizations in Georgia (ANOG), an
umbrella Organization of the
Nigerian Community in Georgia, will
be hosting a series of events to
commemorate Nigeria's Independence
Day. These events leading up to the
Independence Day - October 1st, are
designed to celebrate and create
awareness about the successes as
well as challenges ahead for
Nigerians and Nigeria.
|
This panel will highlight monitoring
and mediating conflicts, implementing peace agreements,
facilitating dialogue to ease tensions, and helping
regional organizations build capacity for conflict
resolution
The following sub-topics will be
discussed so as to create a greater awareness about the
causes, implications and possible solutions to the
intractable conflicts in Nigeria.

"Every
conflict we face in life is rich with
positive and negative potential. It can be a source of inspiration,
enlightenment, learning, transformation, and growth–or rage, fear,
shame, entrapment, and resistance. The choice is not up to our
opponents, but to us, and our willingness to face and work through
them"
