ANOG
Parade
2010

The maiden all Nigeria unity parade
took place in downtown Atlanta on October 2nd to
showcase Nigerian culture, assert our "Nigerianess”,
celebrate ourselves, while building stronger
relationships and more mutually supportive community
of Nigerians in Georgia.
The vision of this colorful parade was hinged on the
concerted goal to celebrate the history, culture and
tradition of Nigeria at the Kaleidoscopic
intersection of a major historical landmark (50
years of Independence) and the need to project the
image of Nigeria in a more positive light in the
midst of seemingly negative media connotation. This
was the day Atlanta stood still for Nigerians... for
two hours!!! . Even Governor Sonny Purdue send a
congratulatory message to all Nigerians in Georgia.
This is the first time out for “Georgian Nigerians”,
but now it is the parade to beat!!! Hello New York!
Hello Chicago ! Brace up Houston, there is a new
sheriff in town, and is call “Hotlanta” !
Many “Presidential thanks” to Presidents of ANOG
Member Associations who came out to lead their
units. Special thanks to Hon. Chudi Okafor, the
Consul General of the Federal Republic of Nigeria,
and his entourage, who came out to address the
gathering. Profound kudos to all who came out, who
believe in Nigeria, who are proud of their heritage,
who participated and supported this events, and who
can raise their heads and say “Yes, I am Nigeria,
the changes start with ME”
Memories, pleasant memories, are made of these.

"Every
conflict we face in life is rich with
positive and negative potential. It can be a source of inspiration,
enlightenment, learning, transformation, and growth–or rage, fear,
shame, entrapment, and resistance. The choice is not up to our
opponents, but to us, and our willingness to face and work through
them"
