Chibuike Onyirimba

CHARLES CHIBUIKE ONYIRIMBA, one
of nine children, was born in Umudike Umueze II, in Ehime Mbano
Local Government Area of Imo State, Nigeria to Sir & Lady C.S.
Onyirimba, a retired school headmaster and teacher. He attended
Madonna High School in Ihitte-Etiti LGA where he graduated in 1978.
He briefly attended Government College Umuahia in 1979 for his
Higher School Certificate (HSC).
Before “Coming to America” in 1981,
Onyirimba founded and served as the first President of Umueze II
Academic Union and Youths Against Corruption from 1979 to 1981.
He received his Bachelors degree in
Political Science and Journalism from the Oklahoma State University
State University in Stillwater, Oklahoma in December 1984. He
received his graduate and Doctor of Law Degree from the University
of Florida in Gainesville, Florida in 1987.
SERVICES
While at Oklahoma State University,
Atty. Onyirimba was elected President of the African Student’s
Association while in his second year. He was later elected
President of the International Student’s Association comprising of
students from twenty-five countries. He was the first Black Student
to run for the President of the student Government at Oklahoma State
University, a school of thirty two thousand students.
In 1993, Atty. Onyirimba was
overwhelmingly elected President of the Igbo Union, Atlanta, USA.
In this capacity, Atty. Onyirimba united all thirty two
organizations of Igbo origin in Atlanta. In his second year as
President of Igbo Union, Atty. Onyirimba launched the first phase of
1.5 million dollar Igbo Culture Centre in Atlanta.
In 1994, Atty. Onyirimba and
other Igbo leaders in American founded the World Igbo congress
headquartered in Houston, Texas. The World Igbo Congress is the
main political umbrella of all Igbo organizations in America and
rest of the World. Atty. Onyirimba served as the first Chairman,
Membership Recruitment and Mobilization Committee of World Igbo
Congress.
1996, Honorary Nigerian Consul,
Atlanta, Assisted Consul General Charles Awani carry out consular
duties in Atlanta for 3 years before the opening of a consulate
office in Atlanta.
In 1996, Onyirimba was chosen
as the Chairman of the Nigerian Olympic Reception Committee, a
community based group that facilitated the Nigerian Olympic Athletic
games in Atlanta, Georgia.
In 1996, Onyirimba joined
George Ejim and late David Murako to found Imo Economic Development
Council (IEDC). He currently serves as one of IEDC’s Executive
Board of Directors. The IEDC is a think tank group aimed at
attracting foreign investment into Imo State of Nigeria.
In 1999, Atty. Onyirimba
founded and became the President of the African American Lawyers
Association in Atlanta, Georgia USA.
ACTIVITIES
DIRECTOR AND SPOKESMAN:
American Nigerian International Chamber of Commerce (ANICC). ANICC
organized seminars on doing business with Nigeria. Participants in
various conferences organized by ANICC between 2000 and 2003 include
the Governors of several states in Nigeria, key officers of the
Senate and female members of the House of Representatives. ANICC
attracted foreign Investors who came to Imo State to revitalize the
Avutu Poultry, the Imo Hotels and the Standard Shoe Industry
February 2003 Atlanta, GA:
Delivered lectures to members of Kwara State House of Assembly –
Role of the legislature in the Democratic Growth in Nigeria.
2002 Atlanta Georgia: Organized
Privatization Conference for the Ministry of Mines and Steel.
2001 Atlanta Georgia: Assisted
in coordinating the ministerial conference for the African and
Caribbean Ministers of Aviation with the US Department of Transport.
Atty. Onyirimba is the Principal of
the Law Office of Onyirimba & Associates, P.C. in Atlanta Georgia,
President of Onyirimba Communications, Inc. Atlanta Georgia.
Publisher of The African Quest Magazine and Host of The
African Quest Television, based in Atlanta Georgia. The African
Quest has been instrumental in promoting the image of Nigeria and
Africa in America.
Atty. Charles Chibuike Onyirimba
serves on the Board of many organizations such as The African Trade
Center, The American Nigerian International Chambers of Commerce;
The African Chamber of Commerce, the Boreholes for Africa and Nicore.

Charles Chibuike Onyirimba is a Poet
and devoted Christian and a community activist. He has received
various commendations and awards from the Nigerian Government, Civic
Organizations and Community groups for his community activism and
philanthropy and from the Georgia State Secretary of State.
Atty. Charles Chibuike Onyirimba is
married with children.
